After 2066 there will be few people left on Earth. Most will have died of heatstroke in Summer heatwaves. Many of those that survived the heat died of hunger, because their crops didn’t survive.
This is the true cost of Global “Warming”. Some nations see the writing on the wall, and are making some effort to mitigate the effects. It isn’t enough.
Once we stop pouring CO2 and Methane into the atmosphere (because we are dead), the Methane will eventually oxidise and turn into CO2. Those plants that have managed to survive, will slowly remove CO2 from the air and bury it underground again over the course of millions of years, and the biosphere will once again recover, but with new species.
Mankind had his chance, and blew it. His intelligence just wasn’t high enough to allow him to escape from his own waste. Shortsightedness and greed got the better of him. Too wrapped up in his own short term existence to care about the future of the human race as a whole. By the time the deadline fell within the lifetime of those with the clout to do anything about it, it was already too late to do anything about it.
